Public hearing scheduled to discuss Republic Services’ request to increase Collection Assessment and non-universal area rates

(Brooksville, FL) The Hernando County Solid Waste and Recycling Department announces a public hearing scheduled for Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 9 a.m. in the County Commission Chambers, located at 20 North Main Street, Room 160 in Brooksville, to discuss Republic Services’ request for an annual increase to the Solid Waste Collection Assessment and non-universal area rates.

The Solid Waste Assessment became effective January 1, 2019. This assessment provides curbside collection of trash, yard waste and recycling for residents in the universal area of Spring Hill (see map below). The assessment is paid by every single-family or multi-family (four or less) unit within the universal area and is collected on the ad valorem tax bill. Republic Services is the current contractor that provides these services to Hernando County residents. The non-universal area encompasses all Republic Services customers in Hernando County that are not located in the universal area. Non-universal area customers are billed directly from Republic Services monthly.
