Mid Florida Community Services, Inc. Offers Weatherization Program to help families lower their utility bills

BROOKSVILLE, Florida – Low-income homeowners, including manufactured homes, in Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Pasco, Polk, Sumter and Volusia Counties will benefit from Weatherization Assistance Program provided by Mid Florida Community Services, Inc. in partnership with the Florida Department of Commerce and the Department of Energy.

The Community Action Agency has recently expanded into Hillsborough County and is currently seeking applicants across their entire service area of seven counties. This means that low-income families in these areas have access to the benefits of energy efficiency efforts and health and safety upgrades -providing weatherization services at no cost to eligible applicants.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Weatherization Assistance Program is designed to reduce energy costs for low-income households while ensuring their health and safety. MFCS administers the program in seven counties in Florida and received additional funding, for the Weatherization Assistance Program, providing the opportunity for growth to assist more families.

“MFCS wants to help Florida residents reduce their energy bills,” said Weatherization Program Director Karen Schulz. “Weatherizing your home is a great way to reduce your energy and health care costs, prevent falling behind on utility bills and keep your family and home healthy.”
