Oak Hill Hospital Hosts Inaugural NICU Reunion

 

What:  HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital is hosting its first Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) reunion for babies cared for there since opening in August 2020. The event marks nearly five years caring for the tiniest and sickest babies in the region. Oak Hill Hospital’s NICU is the only Level 3 NICU in Hernando, Citrus and Pasco counties that provides advanced (“Level 3”) care for preemies, multiples and critically ill infants. The reunion is a celebration of care and hope for the families whose babies had a challenging start to life, but with the excellent clinical care at Oak Hill Hospital, now thrive.

 

            “We are so excited to gather five years of NICU graduates and their families at Oak Hill Hospital,” said Alfredo Cartaya, MD, neonatologist. “While we hear from many families over the years and have visits with some of our NICU graduates, it will be an honor to spend time with almost 80 families at once!”

 

            The reunion will offer fun activities for families, toddlers and young children including face painting, games, prizes and photo booths.  

 

When: Friday, April 11 at 4:00- 6:00 p.m.

 

Where: HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital GME building located across from the Suncoast Pavilion and behind the “L” shaped physician offices.

Additional details:

• Oak Hill Hospital’s NICU offers 16 private rooms for NICU babies and their families to bond. Care providers take care of the babies in those private rooms. The babies are able to have the temperature, lighting, noise level and care that each individual child requires, as well as unlimited time with mom, who is able to room in with her baby.
• Family members may monitor their baby remotely if they need to leave the NICU.
• The NICU is staffed with 24/7 care of intensivists, hospitalists and midwives.
• A board-certified maternal-fetal medicine specialist and board-certified NICU nurses care for baby and coach families how to care for their precious bundles.
• The unit is secure for the safety of newborns and families.
