Sharing the below information on behalf of Hernando County Emergency Management

Please see below and attached announcements of funding availability for two separate grant programs:
 
Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) Swift Current Program
  • Application deadline is March 15, 2024.
  • Intended for residential mitigation of repetitive flood loss properties.
  • To be eligible for this funding opportunity, homeowners must have an active NFIP Flood Insurance Policy in effect on or before December 15, 2023.
  • Applicants will also need a substantial damage determination letter after August 31, 2023.
  • Applicants must work with their local government to have their project added to the Local Mitigation Strategy Project List and apply for the grant. See attached project submission form.
 
Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) for Hurricane Idalia
  • Application deadline is April 30, 2024.
  • Intended for local government, critical infrastructure, private non-profits, and homeowners to mitigate against prevalent hazards.
  • Applicants must work with their local government to have their project added to the Local Mitigation Strategy Project List and apply for the grant. See attached project submission form.
 
These two programs have quick approaching deadlines and require Emergency Management to add and prioritize projects to their Local Mitigation Strategy Project List to ensure their eligibility. With this in mind, the Local Mitigation Strategy Working Group will meet Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. in the EOC. Please complete the attached project submission form if you are interested in placement on the Local Mitigation Strategy Project List.
