Event Description:
Be one of the first to experience the new Bayport-Linda Pedersen Paddling Trail during the inaugural “The Mermaid Chase” 4K Paddling Race.
Participants will launch from and return to Linda Pedersen Park, located at 6300 Shoal Line Blvd., and have three hours to complete a 2.5-mile portion of the trail. Awards will be given to the fastest paddlers. Participants must provide their own kayak. Food vendors will be on site.
Registration begins March 13 and ends April 6, 2017. The early bird entry fee is $35 through March 24. The price increases to $40 on March 25. Proceeds will go to the Gulf Coast Academy of Science and Technology Center to build and maintain a salt marsh grass nursery to help complete living shoreline and fisheries enhancement projects along the Hernando County coastline.
